Circa 1996 Lychee was written a couple of years after the death of my paternal grandfather during my sophomore year of high school. I have to say that his death profoundly affected me, not only because he was the first person really close to me to die, but also because when I did spend time with him, I really felt that we had a bond, an understanding of sorts. This is my own account of how I saw his death intermingled with real images seen at the time and place. This was one of my first serious pieces of writing, meaning something that I feel I put enough time and effort into that it warrants personal pride and is owed the chance to be published somewhere, someday, and possible in another form.
