Lindy Links

Lindy Hop is Fun!
TotalSwing.com This page has to have to have the most comprehensive calender of swing events for the greater New England area. You can add events if you know of any that are not posted and it generally a good resource for figuring out where to go out dancing.
Lindybaby.com Lindybaby.com is one of my favorite Lindy sites for Boston, because I take classes from Damon and Ravitte and have taken a couple of classes from Sommer and Dorry. All four of them are fabulous teachers and are really good on breaking things down. The reason these guys are great teachers is because they teach the fundamentals, no matter what level you're at. Connection, musicality, and fun are their top priotities. You can also buy CD's that will teach you moves on their website.
Fiveguysnamedmike.com In the Boston scene, there are five guys named Mike. They all supposedly dance, but I have only met four of the five and only two consistently come out. Of the ones I know, they all seem pretty cool, and they run a weekly lindy hop practice session on Mondays near Harvard.
Wannadance.com This is the site for Wanna Dance Productions, which runs Swing City on Friday nights at the VFW on Huron Ave. in Cambridge. On their site they sell a wide variety of swing CDs. They post the schedule for the bands coming to Swing City plus some information on special events such as the Boston Tea Party (West Coast Swing).
The Boston Swing Dance Network These are the people who run the monthly dance in Watertown. They tend to draw high quality bands such as George Gee & the Jump, Jive & Wailers and Eight to the Bar. Though they take a break during the summer (because the space is always steaming hot), it is still the best monthly dance around.
The Speakeasy This is Boston's little bulletin board for swing dancing. Many people in the scene post here and a lot of information from cancellations, special events, exchanges, etc. are seen here first. It's also a forum to anonymously poke fun at other people in the scene.
Yehoodi! This is the more exciting New York version of Boston's Speakeasy.
Dancing Feats Studios This is the dance studio where Marie Lawler, Mike Smith (#2 of the 5), Kerrin Flannagan and my friend Mark teach.
Hop to the Beat Studios This is Tony & Aurelie Tye's dance studio.
The Lindy Exchange This is a fun little page that keeps you updated on all of the lindy exchanges happening around the US and the rest of the world. It has photos, upcoming events information, and even a "Love Exchange" so that you don't feel sketchy about thinking someone you met at an exchange is mad hot.
New England Dancenet This is generally a good dance resources, not restricted to lindy or swing. It has information regarding all sorts of dance from tango to ballroom to lindy. This place has a complete calendar in most regards. If you dance multiple styles, here is the place to go.
Chicago Swing Scene I know this is in Chicago, but this is a FABULOUS resource for lindy hoppers. It has information on music, moves and other things.
Pennsylvania 6-5000/Atomic Magazine This is the site for the quarterly Atomic Magazine, which is all about retro culture. This place has some of the nicest links out there and I'm too damn lazy to transfer them all to my page. Go and check it out.
